"Transportation", collage

Mr. Tanemori has been losing his eyesight since 1987 as a result, his doctors tell him, of being exposed as a child to the explosion of the atomic bomb in Hiroshima in World War II. "In struggling to find new ways to fulfill the purpose of life, I want to use my dimming vision before it will refuse to behold the sunset." ...The theme of his artwork acknowledges 50 years of healing, learning to forgive and to bring peace between the people of the two nations of Japan and America. He is also the co-developer of an advanced guidance system (TAGS) designed to assist people who are blind or visually impaired to utilize public transportation and travel unassisted in public places.
