"The Fish", alabaster stone

ARNOLD BERSON
New York, New York
Born 1922

"Woman", alabaster stone
Mr. Berson studied life drawing at Cooper Union and sculpture at Maurice Glickman's studios in the 1930's. After losing his sight in WWII, he took art workshops at the Jewish Guild For The Blind and at the Lighthouse For The Blind. For the last six years he has been working at the Sculpture Center School and Studios in New York City. He has explored various three-dimensional media but prefers stone because of its strength and resilience for carving. His images are developed from listening to book cassettes and from memories of images seen in the past.
